Professor
Yubaraj Sangroula, founder and Executive Director of Kathmandu School of Law in
Nepal has been honoured with the prestigious "Professor N. R. Madhava Menon Best Law Teacher Award" for the year 2012.
The
Award is issued jointly by the Society of Indian Law Firms and Menon Institute
of Legal Advocacy Training (MILAT) based in Trivandrum, India.
The Institute is
named after the legendary legal academic, Professor N. R. Madhava Menon.
Professor
Sangroula, who is a former Attorney General of Nepal, earned acclamations for his
efforts devoted to legal and human rights education.
Born on 11 January 1959 at Subang,
Panchthar in Nepal, Professor Sangroula has taken up teaching as his life- long
mission.
He has been a legal practitioner as well and
devoted to the cause of the marginalized and disadvantaged group of people.
Professor Sangroula earned his
Doctor of Philosophy from Delhi University in 2007 for his dissertation
entitled, “Criminal Justice System of Nepal with Special Reference to Legal Framework
and Practices of Interrogation, Extrajudicial Confession and State of Fair
Trial.”
He authored several books including Jurisprudence:
the Philosophy of Law- Oriental Perspective with Special Reference to Nepal (KSL, 2010).
